As Breguet expands its U.S. retail presence with a new boutique on Fifth Avenue in New York City, the brand is also rooting itself into American culture as a lead corporate sponsor of the New York Philharmonic. As the exclusive timepiece of the New York Philharmonic, Breguet’s sponsorship not only supports the NY Phil’s gala evening, but also performances, program series and education programs.
Later this month, Breguet is offering a Classique 5157 for auction with all proceeds to benefit the New York Philharmonic School Partnership Program. The Classique 5157 is the same timepiece worn by Music Director Alan Gilbert.

The School Partnership Program is a nationally recognized music program that builds long-term relationships between the New York Philharmonic and public schools in New York City. Students study symphonic music, attend live performances, and compose music of their own. Through music education, students acquire focused listening skillls, performance skills, musical literacy, strategies for group work, knowledge of cultural history and a personal relationship to the art of music.

On 30 December 2010, the auction begins on the eBay Giving Works site and will end 15 January 2011 at midnight. The Breguet Classique 5157 is an extra thin wristwatch in 18-carat yellow gold, with an automatic movement and silvered dial. The dial made of a solid disc of gold that is hand-engraved on a machine called a “rose engine”. When the engraving is complete, the dial is silvered, giving it its distinctive color.
